Tiger Woods vs. Christmas

With all the hubbub concerning Tiger Woods this month, it may comfort you to know that he’s still not nearly as popular as Christmas. In a Google Blog Search of English language blogs from the past week, a keyword search for “Christmas” yielded approximately 25.9 million results, while “Tiger Woods” returned only 4.4 million. Can we conclude from these arbitrary numbers that the infidelious golfer is 17% as popular as the birth of Jesus? If anything, he’s boosting Christmas numbers, as it was recently speculated that Tiger’s wife might leave him as part of her post-holiday plans. Puts complaining about gift return lines into perspective, no?

On Twitter today, “Tiger Woods” ranked as a trending topic slightly above “Xmas.” But a new contender also emerged into the arena… our old pal, Santa.
